Lockwood Construction
About Us

Lockwood Construction Company has been in the construction business in New Mexico for nearly 61 years. The company began in the late 1940’s when Bob Lockwood opened a lumber-yard and designed and built the first concrete block plant in Northern New Mexico. In 1948, Lockwood Construction Company was formed to do small jobs for customers of the lumber-yard and block plant. The contracting business then grew to include the design and construction of custom homes, subdivisions under FHA/VA and finally expansion into the commercial field.

Santa Fe has always been the base of operations to serve all of Northern New Mexico. However, a Los Alamos operation was maintained for 15 years as this area developed. Offices were located in Farmington when this region boomed with oil and gas operations, in Gallup for Native American projects and in Albuquerque for work at Sandia Labs, Kirkland Air Force Base and the City of Albuquerque.

Since the 1980’s, the Company’s work has focused on residential and commercial development and construction. This included the planning and development of Rancho Viejo, a 23,000-acre land development south of Santa Fe where the Santa Fe Community College was located as part of the initial development. Work has included commercial building, public works projects, historical restoration projects, hotel additions, remodeling and high-end custom homes. In 1991, Robert E. Lockwood, Jr. returned to Santa Fe and became an active member of Lockwood Construction Company.
